My studio was in an A-frame on a forested hillside north of town, while attending undergraduate school in Bloomington Indiana. The view from the balcony was down a wooded slope towards the South. I worked on numerous studies and paintings of illuminated glades as seen through the dappled trees. This interest with the interplay of light as negative space became a building block of my work.
